Indonesia’s Aceh province have dispensed 20,000 long skirts and forbid stores to sell tight clothes and dresses as the Tight Pants Ban took effect on Thursday.

Muslim women are not allowed to wear revealing clothes and anyone caught disobeying the dress code would be given a long skirt.

Mr. Ramli Mansur, head of the West Aceh district, said they would enforce the dress code campaign for two months and the Islamic police would decide if a woman violates the code or not.

On Thursday, several raids were conducted and the authorities caught 18 women who were riding motorbikes and wore jeans. They were given long skirts and their pants were confiscated. And, after listening to pieces of advice given by Islamic preachers, they were released.

One of the women taken into police custody was a 40-year-old woman who said, “I am not wearing sexy outfits, but they caught me like a terrorist only because of my jeans. Wearing jeans is more comfortable when I travel by motorbike.”

Mansur explained, “The rule applies only to Muslim residents in West Aceh. We don’t enforce it for non-Muslims, but are asking them to respect us.”

A question I'm often asked is how to wear leg warmers, a fab winter accessory that got a bad wrap because of one too many aerobics videos in the '80s. Banish those images from your mind forever and hear me out: One of my favorite ways to wear leg warmers is peeking out from underneath tall boots, over leggings, because this way you get an extra layer of warmth and just a glimpse of leg warmer. Cute and understated. Leg warmers also look great worn over flats or ankles boots and either skinny jeans, leggings or tights.

All three looks are definitely on the casual-cool side. Stick with solids and chunky knits if you're unsure about how to wear your legwarmers. Experimentation is key, however, because there is no one-size-fits-all styling solution when it comes to this accessory.

Summer Scarves New Stuff

What does everyone think of the current trend for summer scarves? Of course, there have always been people who’ve worn scarves in summer, but this year they’ve been popping up on every second person, including many a celebrity neck. Jessica Alba, for instance, is seen above wearing the ‘Karma’ scarf by Sir Alistair Rai, whose Buddhist and Hindu prayer scarves have been popular with the celebs this year.
These scarves come in at around about the $100 mark (and above), but of course, there are cheaper scarves available on the high street, in every kind of shape, style and pattern imaginable. The one on the top left of our picture is £15 from Topshop, but summer scarves are being stocked just about everywhere right now.
Personally, we love this look: it’s a good way to add some interest to a simple outfit, and Fashion Police HQ is based in a climate where the scarves actually have some function in summer, as well as being simple fashion accessories, too.

2010 Trendy Outfits Collection&Designs

Last week I wrote part one of a series on casual clothes to wear on campus. The focus of that article was different ways to wear denim. This week, I want to continue the series and show you some great outfit ideas that don’t involve jeans.
I don’t wear dresses and skirts as much as I’d like to. Sometimes they seem like such a hassle, but really they’re just as easy as (if not easier than) putting on a pair of pants! Leggings are another item of clothing I don’t wear enough. Some girls may be self-conscious about wearing leggings, but with a correctly proportioned tunic or dress, they can look great on anyone.
A problem with wearing some of these items is that they can easily end up looking too dressy to wear to class or when hanging out around campus. So it’s important to know how to dress them down. Because of that, I put together six inexpensive and causal outfits that involve skirts, leggings and dresses for under $100.
